Capturing Memories Through Sports Cards

Sports have always been a large part of my life. Playing baseball at a young age and later picking up basketball and golf has helped me build many unforgettable memories and relationships that I am beyond thankful for. Along with my love for baseball, I looked up to many professional players at a young age. My parents would buy me baseball cards of my favorite players along with cards of players on former teams. This helped me appreciate and grow my love for the game. I would try to collect complete sets of players' cards and bring them to games and try to get autographs. This made baseball special for me. Along with creating these connections, sports cards hold valuable memories. I remember on my younger age baseball teams the parents would make us baseball cards to help capture the season. I still have these cards and they help me go back and remember some of the memories from these seasons.

With my senior project, I want to be able to help recreate this connection and recollection of memories through sports cards. I will be making sports cards for our school’s baseball team and possibly other sports teams. The one thing I wish was different about the cards I have from my younger teams would be the designs. They are fairly basic simple designs and don't feel like a real baseball card. I am spending my next three weeks with Mrs. Casey Zulandt and her team at Ten10 Design in Chardon to create sports cards that help capture these valuable memories. In order to fulfill this task, I am learning how to use different editing software such as photoshop, lightroom, illustrator, and other adobe programs, as well as learning about photography, the design process, distribution, branding, marketing, and some of the challenges that Ten10 Design works through daily. I am looking forward to these next three weeks and what I am able to come up with!
